DOPAMINE

is a neurotransmitter, a chemical that transmits signals in the brain and other areas of the body.

Our body can produce dopamine and it plays a key role in regulating mood, motivation, pleasure and motor function.

Social media interactions, such as receiving likes, comments or sharing content, can activate the reward system in the brain, increasing dopamine levels. However, this stimulation may vary between people and depend on individual experience. It is important to use social media in a balanced and conscious way, as excessive or unhealthy use can lead to negative consequences on mental health.

Endogenous dopamine plays an important role in several functions, including:

Learning: Dopamine is involved in learning and memory. When we learn something new, dopamine neurons release dopamine, which helps us remember that new information.

Motivation: Dopamine is involved in motivation and reward seeking. When we are presented with a reward, dopamine neurons release dopamine, which motivates us to continue pursuing that reward.

Movement: Dopamine is involved in movement. Dopamine neurons regulate the contraction of muscles, which allows us to move.

Pleasure: Dopamine is involved in the sensation of pleasure. When we do something we like, dopamine neurons release dopamine, which makes us feel pleasure.
